Nathan and I were on our way to Kingston, Ontario for a friends wedding. We had decided to go to Niagara Falls since neither one of us has been there.
We get to the falls and start walking around the main part, which is absolutely gorgeous but super crowded. Nathan suggests we go up to a lookout point where only one family was standing. As we make our way up there, the family leaves. We stand and look for a few minutes when Nathan asks me if we should have someone take our picture and pretty much anyone who knows me, knows I love pictures. So of course I agreed! He goes inside a close building to find someone, and ends up asking a couple to “take our picture.”
They come outside with Nathan and we pose for a picture. The guy was recording it the whole time which I was oblivious to.. even after Nathan proposed I thought he was just taking pictures throughout. After the first “picture” we took, Nathan looked at me and said, “Actually Jess, there is something I wanted to ask you” and he gets down on one knee, where I instantly started crying, which in turn, made him start crying too.
He later told me he had a much longer speech prepared but was choked up by how I responded with instant crying. (I didn’t mind the short speech at all.) most of his proposal was about how he knew from when he met me that I was the one who he wanted to marry. It was honestly the most perfect proposal I could have asked for and I am SO glad he asked the couple to video it. We made our way to Kingston, celebrated with some awesome friends and enjoyed a friends gorgeous wedding where Nathan was an usher. I am very blessed to be engaged to an amazing man!
