Wow. In April 2013, I celebrated being in business for four years. Over half of 2013 was spent growing into my fifth year of being a small business owner of TWO small business. As I sit and just admire all these beautiful people below and think about what all i’ve experienced, who I’ve grown to become, the encouraging conversation and stories I’ve heard from each of my clients, I feel more blessed and thankful than ever. What a fun job right? Overwhelming at times, with way too many hours poured in, countless sleepless nights, and most weekends unavailable. But I’m so happy, and so content with the number of weddings and lifestyle sessions I get each year. I never want to spread myself too thin. To devote the time and energy into each family I work with is so important to me. This is the first year, I started delegating due to volume. Hiring a bookkeeper is one of the best decisions I could have made for my business. I’ve really tried to eliminate the things I dont want to be doing, so that I can focus on being an artist, a creative, and being a better photographer for all of you. And finally giving some control to other people and really trusting them to do what they do best, so that I can do what I do best, has BEEN the best thing for my business. It shows growth, and it’ll only get better from here. And 2013, I really started to feel myself towards the in, spread a little thin. This only starts my photography and photo booth business on the right foot for 2014. I finally have workers working for me all year, we are starting to rebrand, and start fresh, and we’re filling up fast with inquiries. ALL thanks to you and your kind words spreading how much you loved working with us in 2013.

I’m honored that all of you choose to come to me, and continue to come to me. Who admire my work and follow me daily. You have no idea how special that is. That I can feed my family, pay my bills,  have a home, travel, and have a successful personal life and businesses. To all of you who let your guard down and allow me into your most personal relationships, thank you! Sincerely. Happy 2013 everyone.

In 2013…

-I had the incredible opportunity to shoot in 6 different states including some of my favorite destination weddings: a wedding at the largest cathedral in the United States in Washington D.C., I shot a wedding in Destin, Florida on a little beachy island at sunset, and I shot a wedding in Chicago at Mayslake Peabody Estate.

-I shot over 20 weddings, over 14 beloved sessions, and over 23 lifestyle sessions (family, children, and life + style)

-I made the COVER of three Kansas City bridal magazines.

-I donated over $2,500 to charity thanks to YOU all supporting my business.

-Continued to work with the successful EA Bride Magazine as the Art Director, meeting some amazing wedding professionals along the way.

-Was nominated “2013 Bride’s Choice Award” by my clients and Wedding Wire, for the fourth year in a row.

-I (along with my couples) were featured on 3 national blogs including one of my ultimate favorite wedding blogs: 100 Layer Cake,

-We were featured in over 6 print magazines.

-My (now) fiance and his professional singing group, The Kansas City chorale, were nominated for 3 Grammy Awards. We got to attend the red carpet event in February in Los Angeles and attend the Grammys.  :::drop roll please:::    THEY WON ALL THREE GRAMMYS!

-I bought my first home on my own and flipped the kitchen in 4 months. Rewiring, plumbing, insulating, sheet rocking, designing and tons more. Stay tuned for before and after images.

-Myself and my (now fiance) traveled an entire month in our busiest season to shoot some wildlife and natural landscape photography (soon to come to the online gallery) and to conquer an enormous bucket list people spend their entire lives trying to achieve. We drove over 7,000 miles, over 11 states, saw over 10 national parks, camped for over 3 weeks, saw 5 bears, 2 coyotes, hundreds of elk and deer, and over 50 buffalo. We saw Mesa Verde, the Garden of the Gods, the Grand Canyon, Sequoia National Park, Yosemite National Park, Yellowstone National Park, Vegas, the beach up the west coast, Oregon for the first time in my life, Napa valley, Crater Lake, the Rockies and tons more. See all of our trip adventures here.

-And I think my ultimate favorite thing that happened in 2013……. I GOT ENGAGED! Philip proposed to be over the Golden Gate bridge in San Fransisco. Read how he did it here.

Thank you all for making another year in my life a radical adventure. What fun experiences I’ve had just in 365 days. Here’s to another and an even BETTER 2014!
