I had a little booth and table set up with wedding albums and canvas and soon after I was set up, I met Whitney and her mom at a West Elm Registry event at the Kansas City, Missouri plaza store. It was our meet-cute: “(Whitney) Hi, how do you know those two on this canvas?” “(Me) They are two of my best friends I photographed.) “(Whitney) I work with Laura, she is related to me too.” What a small world. That right there was the connection we made to set up a meeting to work together for Lucas and her big day. I am so thankful for these meet-cutes. Especially when they end up being some of the neatest people. Their hearts are one of a kind, the type of people you truly want to be experiencing their wedding day with. My ideal clients I would say. Loving, fun, passionate, lovers of Christ, family oriented, silly, laid back. It was my most dreamy type of wedding day. They even got married at one of my favorite venues in the midwest: The Weston Red Barn Farm. Due to the popularity of the venue and landscape, the owners built this brand new barn, now able to run air conditioning and heating in it. This mix of elegance and rustic is so classy. I love the new space. So fitting for their style, so fitting sitting atop the hill bathing in the sunlight.
It was Nov 1 in the midwest. Supposed to be and normally cold and brisk. The start of undesirably dead looking trees after all the color falls off from the beautiful midwest October. But God made it happen. We’ve been praying for this wedding for a long time. I pray very purposeful for all of my couples. For a long lasting, sacred, adventurous and happy life together. For Whitney and Lucas, she wanted nice weather and I so intently prayed for that for them. I think we all did. This day was perfect. Warm weather, the glow in mid afternoon before the early sunset of daylight savings. She was glowing. He was lit up looking at her and they were both meant to be in this exact moment at this exact time. God aligned the universe to align and to shine the very love he has for their relationship right down on them during the photos. And you can see the love they have for one another, for their loved ones and for Jesus documented in these stills below. Something that always reminds me that my job is worth it. Their kids will get to look back at these moments that could’ve been missed if not captured, and that is so important to me. I hope you both, Whitney and Lucas, love these images and remembering how you felt for each other and on this day every time you look at them. Thank you for choosing us and trusting us to be there with you. It was such a perfect day.
See the full gallerv coming Thanksgiving week.
